The folding machine operates as follows.

In this case, the tail portion of the sheet 5 is transported in a clockwise direction.

From the knife cylinder 3 to the valve cylinder 2, while the front part of the sheet 5 pts to the valve cylinder 2 in the direction opposite to the direction of rotation of the knife cylinder 3, and this gives rise to the chickpea effect. This effect is almost eliminated by positioning the rail 4 and connecting it to a high voltage source.
The valve cylinder 2 has a side surface area in the form of an electrostatic grip for the tail of the sheet 5, made of an electrostatically charged insulator in order to hold this part of the sheet 5, so that the whip effect cannot but occur.
In addition, in the direction of rotation, in front of the gap 1, there is an electrode 15, which for each revolution electrostatically charges the gripper 8 of the cylinder 2.

1.
